San Diego Electronic Design Firm Acquires Innovative Machine
SAN DIEGO, CA - Thursday, March 23, 2006
ARMA Design, a San Diego-based electronic design and manufacturing firm, has acquired a revolutionary rapid prototyping 3-D printer that allows for the development and manufacture of useable, real performance prototypes from 3D CAD drawings in a matter of hours, instead of days.
"Were pleased to be on the forefront of this rapid prototyping technology. The machine enhances our ability to accurately visualize complex components before manufacturing them. We can take a customers 3D CAD drawing and quickly give them a completely useable and attractive prototype," says Alex McKay, ARMA Design president and CEO.
ARMAs Rapid Prototyping Department uses the Stratasys Dimension SST 3D printer to create custom parts that quickly and accurately verify technologies and test ideas with real performance prototypes. The parts are created with ABS plastic, which is much more durable than the brittle plastic from which prototypes are more commonly made. Typically, prototypes are produced by SLA (Steriolithographic Apparatus) machines and are used for demonstration or fitting purposes only.
